Deep ruby/purple in color, with a sweet nose of black currants, earth, licorice, and mineral, the 2000 is relatively powerful and dense for the normally restrained and elegant Beychevelle. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and chewy, it is showing even better out of bottle than it was from cask. While it appears to be the finest example made at Beychevelle since the 1989 and 1982, patience will be required. ***91/100 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (146), April 2003***

Opulent red. Intense aromas of currants, cigar tobacco and berries. Full-bodied, with a solid core of silky tannins and a long finish. Well-made. (3/2003)
Another excellent Haut-Médoc with great colour and verve but no exaggeration of style. Sweet, chewy and with lots of potential. A wine that leaps out of the glass.

St Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux
Dark cherry core color, bricking at waist. All leather, graphite, cigar box and pencil shavings upon opening. Fleshy merlot texture, acidic balance, integrated tannins. With aeration, smoky and roasted fruits came to the fore - like charcoal filtered plums. Textbook 60/40 blend. As others have observed, this is squarely in its drinking window and showing really well. Cellar Tracker Review

Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years".

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe
97 Points (Parker)
"The 2000 Mouton Rothschild is at its best with about 24-48 hours of decanting. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, the wine offers a saturated ruby/purple color in addition to reticent but promising aromas of toast, coffee, licorice, creme de cassis, and roasted nuts. Dense, chewy, and backward, with tremendous purity and density in addition to obvious toasty oak, it is full-bodied, powerful, tannic, and backward. Twenty-four to 48 hours of aeration only hints at its ultimate potential. This blockbuster will be exceptionally long-lived. It is not as expressive as the other first-growth Medocs, but give it time.

Mouis (Medoc) Cru Grand Bourgeois

Very dark crimson. Pretty rich and gamey on the nose. Excellent alluring fragrance. Good, lively stuff. Slightly dry on the finish, but pretty succulent fruit on the mid palate - racy and very well balanced. GV. Jancis Robinson

Medoc Cru Grand Bourgeois

This is a beautiful wine and certainly one of the great sleepers of the vintage. I originally predicted that this wine would be at full maturity between 2007 and 2028, but I would push that back by a good 4-5 years. Still inky/purple, with notes of acacia flowers intermixed with wet rocks, black currants, and blueberries, the wine is full-bodied, displays no real evidence of any oak, and offers up terrific concentration, texture, and length. Chateu Tour de By is a substantial 70 hectare estate, located at Bégadan in the northern Medoc. This ever-reliable property produced an opulent, generously fruity 2000 that impressed 'en primeur'and confirmed its early potential during its youth. Now approaching its best it displays vibrancy of fruit with hints of oak in support.

Castello di Lucignano - Riserva
Chianti, situated in Tuscany in central Italy, is home to probably the best-known and most iconic of all Italian wines.
The area’s most highly regarded wines come from the Chianti Classico zone which is the heartland of the Chianti wine region – its traditional and longest-established vinicultural area. This fame is due not just to the high quality of the wines, but also to the classico zone's iconic Tuscan landscape and wine making traditions. This Chianti is characterised by its red and black cherry character, intermingled with notes of wild herbs, mint and spice, supported by a racy acidity and mellow tannins.
